Global Financial Technology Solutions Provider

Migrated FIS Global's legacy financial application from deprecated .NET Framework 4.5 to modern .NET Core 7 — preserving all business logic, modernizing the UI, and enabling AI-readiness.

Company Context

One of the world's largest financial technology companies, providing mission-critical systems for banks, financial institutions, and enterprise clients. Platforms handle transaction processing, compliance workflows, and internal financial operations at global scale.

What Our Scale Partnership Revealed
  • .NET Framework 4.5 had reached end-of-support — in a regulated financial environment, running unsupported infrastructure is a compliance failure, not just technical debt.
  • Security vulnerabilities were accumulating with no upstream patches available.
  • The architecture could not be extended to support AI-driven financial automation workflows, blocking the platform's evolution roadmap.
  • Modernization had to preserve 100% of existing business logic — in financial systems, any workflow regression has direct compliance and operational impact.
Engineering Work
  • Migrated the full application from .NET Framework 4.5 to .NET Core 7 — rebuilt the architecture to current standards while maintaining exact functional parity.
  • Preserved all existing business workflows and logic during migration — validated against the original system behavior.
  • Modernized the user interface alongside the backend migration.
  • Architecture now supports AI integration — the compliance and analytics automation capabilities that were previously blocked can now be built.
System Outcome
  • Deprecated framework dependency eliminated — platform is on a supported, actively maintained stack.
  • Security vulnerabilities and compliance risk removed.
  • Business logic fully preserved — zero workflow regression across the migration.
  • UI modernized — improved usability for internal users.
  • Platform is now AI-ready for financial automation and analytics workflows.
Engineering Breakdown+

Migration Strategy: Incremental module-by-module migration rather than a big-bang rewrite. Each module was migrated, tested for behavioral equivalence against the original, then integrated — reducing regression risk at each step.

Business Logic Preservation: Built a parallel test harness that ran the same inputs through both old and new implementations and compared outputs — any divergence was caught and resolved before the module was considered migrated.

.NET Core 7 Architecture: Adopted dependency injection, middleware pipeline, and modern configuration patterns — aligning with current .NET conventions while removing the legacy coupling patterns from Framework 4.5.
